Age as on Cutoff Date Calculator

When you fill a government job application form, you will often see phrases like:

  • "Candidates must not exceed 30 years as on 01 January 2026"
  • "Age limit: 32 years as on 01 August 2026 (relaxable for reserved categories)"
  • "Minimum age: 18 years as on the last date of online registration"

The key question is: what is your exact age on that specific date? Not today. Not your birthday. On the cutoff date written in the notification.

Why the Cutoff Date Matters More Than Your Birthday

Suppose your DOB is 15 February 1996 and the age limit is 30 years as on 01 January 2026. Your age on 01 January 2026 is 29 years, 10 months, 16 days — you qualify. But if you calculate your age today (June 2026), you are already 30 years old and might assume you are over-age. The cutoff date is what counts.

This calculator solves that confusion instantly.

How to Use This Calculator

1. Enter your Date of Birth (DD / MM / YYYY) 2. Select the cutoff date — use the presets (01 Jan 2026, 01 Aug 2026, etc.) or enter a custom date from your notification 3. Optionally enter the age limit from the form (e.g., 30 years) — the tool will show Eligible or Not Eligible 4. Get your exact age in years, months, and days as on that cutoff date

Category Relaxation — Apply It Separately

This tool calculates raw age. Category relaxation (OBC +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, etc.) is applied on top of the base age limit. For example, if the base limit is 30 years and you are OBC, the effective limit is 33 years — enter 33 in the age limit field to check against your relaxed limit.

For exam-specific category relaxation, use the dedicated calculators:

Why This Tool Exists

Most age calculators show your age today. Government exam aspirants need age on a specific past or future date — and that date changes exam to exam. This dedicated tool handles all cases with preset dates for the most common exams and a custom date option for everything else.

⚠️ Note: Always verify the exact cutoff date from the official notification. This tool is for calculation purposes only and does not constitute official eligibility confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Government job forms require that your age does not exceed the stated maximum on a specific reference date — the cutoff date. For example, "not more than 32 years as on 01 January 2026" means your age calculated on 01 January 2026 must be ≤ 32 years. Your age on the date you fill the form is irrelevant — only the age on the cutoff date matters.
