Why EaseToolz?
Images are the single largest contributor to slow web pages, bloated email attachments, and full storage drives. A single unoptimised photograph from a modern smartphone can be 4–8MB. Load ten of those on a web page and you have a 60MB page that takes 10 seconds to load on a mobile connection. Compress those same images to 400KB each and the page loads in under a second. EaseToolz Image Compressor reduces image file size by 40–80% while keeping the visual quality high enough that most viewers cannot tell the difference.
The compression runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API — your images are never uploaded to any server. This matters both for privacy and for speed: there is no waiting for a file to upload, process on a remote server, and download again. The entire operation happens locally in milliseconds.
**How image compression works**
JPEG and WebP images use lossy compression — they discard image data that the human eye is unlikely to notice, particularly fine details in shadows and complex textures. The quality slider controls how much data is discarded. At 92% (our default) the output is visually identical to the original on every screen. At 70%, the file is typically 60–70% smaller with compression artefacts only visible on extreme zoom. At 40–50%, files become very small — suitable for email thumbnails or low-bandwidth scenarios.
PNG images are lossless, so compression works differently. EaseToolz re-encodes PNGs at a reduced quality by converting to JPEG or WebP internally — if you want true lossless PNG compression, use 100% quality which preserves all pixel data.
**Common use cases**
Web developers compressing images before deploying to production — large images are the most common cause of poor Lighthouse performance scores and failing Core Web Vitals. Freelancers and agencies compressing client deliverables before uploading to Dropbox or Google Drive to stay within storage quotas. Students compressing images before inserting into PowerPoint or Word documents to keep file sizes manageable. Photographers compressing proofs before emailing to clients — a set of 50 raw photos at 5MB each becomes a manageable 50–200MB instead of 250MB. Social media managers reducing images to under 1MB before posting, since platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp further compress images on upload.
**Supported formats**
EaseToolz Image Compressor accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 100MB per file. Output format matches the input format — JPG in, JPG out.
**How much will my image be compressed?**
Compression ratio depends on the original image. Photographs with rich colour and detail compress efficiently — a 5MB JPG photo typically compresses to 600KB–1.5MB at 80% quality. PNG screenshots with large flat colour areas compress less because they are already efficiently encoded. As a rule of thumb, expect 40–80% size reduction on photographs.
**Privacy: your images never leave your device**
The Canvas API processes images entirely within your browser tab. No file is transmitted to any server — not even temporarily. This is important when compressing images that contain personal information, faces, documents, or proprietary business content. When you close the browser tab, the original and compressed images are gone from memory.
**No account, no watermark, free forever**
Compressing images on EaseToolz is free for everyone with no daily limit, no signup, and no watermark added to the output. The compressed image is yours to use however you like.
