Why EaseToolz?
HEIC is the default photo format used by every iPhone and iPad running iOS 11 or later. Apple introduced it because HEIC files are roughly half the size of equivalent JPEGs while maintaining superior image quality — a smart choice for maximising storage on a device. The problem is that the rest of the world has not adopted it. Windows requires a paid codec to open HEIC files. Android does not support them natively. Most photo editors, social media platforms, email clients, and government upload portals only accept JPG. The result: millions of people every day find their iPhone photos are unreadable on their Windows PC, or get rejected when uploading to a form.
EaseToolz converts HEIC to JPG directly inside your browser using the heic2any library. No upload, no server, no account required. Your photos stay on your device throughout the entire conversion.
**Why HEIC files cause problems**
When you AirDrop a photo from iPhone to a Windows PC, it arrives as a .heic file that Windows Photo Viewer may refuse to open. When you try to upload an iPhone photo to a visa application portal, a banking KYC form, or a government ID site, you often get an error saying the format is not supported. When you send HEIC photos to a friend on Android, their gallery app may show a blank icon. Converting to JPG solves all of these problems in one step.
**How to convert HEIC to JPG on EaseToolz**
Select your HEIC file (or drag and drop it), and the conversion begins automatically. The heic2any library decodes the HEIC container in your browser and re-encodes the image as a JPEG at 92% quality — indistinguishable from the original to the human eye, but universally compatible. Download begins automatically when the conversion finishes.
**Will quality be lost?**
HEIC files store images with high dynamic range and wide colour gamut data. When converting to JPG at 92% quality, the output is visually identical to the original on virtually all screens. The only scenario where quality loss is noticeable is if you convert at very low quality settings (below 60%) or if you repeatedly convert the same image multiple times — lossy-to-lossy re-encoding degrades quality each round. For a one-time HEIC to JPG conversion at default settings, quality loss is imperceptible.
**Batch conversion**
Need to convert many HEIC photos at once? EaseToolz processes one file at a time in the current version. For bulk conversion of entire iPhone photo libraries, consider exporting photos from your iPhone set to "Most Compatible" in Settings → Camera → Formats — this makes the iPhone save new photos as JPEG automatically.
**Privacy**
Your photos never leave your device. HEIC files often contain location data (GPS coordinates embedded in EXIF metadata), faces of family members, and other personal information. Processing locally ensures that sensitive metadata stays on your device. EaseToolz does not read, store, or transmit any EXIF data from your photos.
**Works on Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux**
Because the conversion runs in a browser using WebAssembly, it works identically on Windows, macOS, Android, Linux, and any other platform with a modern browser. No software installation needed — open the page and convert.
