NDA Age Calculator 2026 — DOB Window Check

The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam conducted by UPSC is unique among all government exams in two important ways: it uses a DOB window (not a calculated age), and it has zero age relaxation for any category.

How NDA Eligibility Works

Unlike UPSC CSE, SSC, or Railway exams where you calculate your age on a cutoff date, NDA checks whether your date of birth falls within a specific window published in each notification.

NDA I 2026: DOB must be between 01 Jul 2007 and 01 Jul 2010 NDA II 2026: DOB must be between 02 Jan 2008 and 01 Jul 2011

This is equivalent to being approximately 16.5 to 19.5 years old at the time of examination.

No Relaxation — Zero Exceptions

This cannot be overstated: NDA gives NO age relaxation to any category — not OBC, not SC/ST, not EWS, not PwD. This is fundamentally different from UPSC CSE, SSC, Railway, and all other major exams. Every candidate, regardless of category, must fall within the same DOB window.

DOB Window Shifts Every Notification

The DOB window in your notification is the only valid reference. The windows above are from the official NDA & NA I and II 2026 notifications (upsc.gov.in). Future notifications will have different windows — always check the latest notification before applying.

Eligibility Criteria Beyond Age

  • Marital status: Unmarried only (at time of joining, not just application)
  • Gender: Open to male and female candidates (SC order, 2021)
  • Nationality: Indian (or Nepalese/Bhutanese subject to conditions)
  • Education: Class 12 pass or appearing for Physics and Maths (for Army); Class 12 pass or appearing any subject (for Navy/Air Force with specific criteria)

What If NDA Window Has Passed?

Consider these paths: - UPSC CDS — Combined Defence Services, ages 19–25 (IMA), leads to Army/Navy/Air Force officer - UPSC CSE — IAS/IPS/IFS, ages 21–32 (General), civilian administration - SSC GD Constable — 18–23 years, paramilitary forces - State PSC exams — BPSC, MPPSC, WBCS, CGPSC, wider age windows

⚠️ Disclaimer: DOB windows are from official NDA & NA I and II 2026 notifications verified June 2026. DOB windows change with every notification. No age relaxation for any category. Only unmarried candidates eligible. Always verify the current notification at upsc.gov.in before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions

NDA uses a DOB window, not a fixed age limit. NDA I 2026: born between 01 Jul 2007 and 01 Jul 2010. NDA II 2026: born between 02 Jan 2008 and 01 Jul 2011. This roughly means 16.5–19.5 years at the time of examination. The DOB window is published in each notification.
