No. This tool is NOT a password cracker. You must already know the password (for open-locked PDFs) or the file must only have owner restrictions. Trying to crack a password you don't know is impossible without brute-force, which we deliberately don't support.

What's the difference between user-locked and owner-locked PDFs?

A user-locked (or "open-locked") PDF requires a password just to view the document — you need to enter that password here. An owner-locked PDF opens normally but has restrictions on printing, copying, or editing — for those, leave the password field empty and the restrictions will be removed.

What if I forgot the password?

There is no recovery for AES-256 encryption — that's its purpose. If you forgot the password and never backed it up, the PDF effectively cannot be opened. We cannot help recover it.

Why does my downloaded PDF still ask for a password?

Make sure you entered the correct open password. If you only had owner restrictions, the password field should be empty. If the issue persists, the PDF may use a non-standard encryption scheme; try opening it in Adobe Acrobat first.

Does this work on AES-256 encrypted PDFs from Adobe Acrobat?

Yes. The tool handles all standard PDF encryption schemes: RC4-40, RC4-128, AES-128, and AES-256, as long as you provide the correct password.
