The exact age difference between two people is found by subtracting one date of birth from the other — not just the birth years. A couple born in March 1990 and November 1990 are both "30-year-olds" but their age gap is 8 months, not zero.

How Age Difference Is Calculated Correctly
Wrong method: 1996 − 1990 = 6 years (ignores months and days)
Correct method: 1. Note both dates of birth: April 15, 1990 and November 3, 1996 2. Subtract: November 3, 1996 − April 15, 1990 3. Result: 6 years, 6 months, 19 days
The error is up to 11 months 30 days if you only subtract birth years.
